San Diego’s Martin Garrick is a candidate for North County’s 74th Assembly District. Garrick, who served in the Reagan Administration, is a small business owner and lifelong conservative advocate.
In the 1980’s Garrick joined the Reagan for President campaign at national headquarters in Arlington, Virginia. He then moved to the White House transition team and thereafter into a number of positions in the Reagan Administration, including Deputy Senate-House Liaison. After leaving the Reagan Administration, Garrick founded Admiral Industries Inc., a telecommunications company. He also owns and manages Admiral Property Company, a real estate investment firm.
Garrick has been active for decades in both Republican organizations and campaigns. As First Vice Chairman of the San Diego Republican Party Garrick played a major role in the building of one of the nation’s most relevant local parties. For nearly a decade, he served as a Board Member in the San Diego Lincoln Club, and as a member of the Adam Smith Institute.
As a conservative with real world experience, Garrick’s campaign has drawn early support from local and statewide Republican leaders. His endorsement’s include Congressmen Darrell Issa and Dana Rohrbacher, State Senator Tom McClintock, Gubernatorial candidate Bill Simon, and over a dozen former California Republican Party Chairmen, San Diego Republican Party Chairmen, and San Diego Lincoln Club Chairmen.
The 74th Assembly District is currently held by Assemblyman Mark Wyland (R-Vista), who is running for the 38th State Senate seat. The 74th contains the cities of Del Mar, Solana Beach, Encinitas, Carlsbad, Vista, San Marcos, and Escondido. Overwhelmingly Republican, the winner of the 2006 Primary Election is likely to win the 2006 General Election.
