As the Republican Leader of the State Assembly, I am committed to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to come up with solutions to the very complicated challenges facing our state. It is no secret that unrestrained spending during the good times have left us with unsustainable obligations in the down times. My colleagues in Sacramento need to understand that tough choices need to be made if we are to get our state on the right track again.

It is simple: a government that spends more than it takes in and taxes individuals and businesses to the point that it makes better sense to leave the state than stay here is the wrong direction. One third of our students drop out of school before graduation and our once proud education system ranks near the bottom.

Working families’ wages are not keeping up with the cost of living and at every turn, government is making it more difficult to provide the quality of life that Californians deserve. We need to change the culture in Sacramento that encourages this reckless policy-making and return to providing the basic services that maintain our infrastructure, keep our families safe, and promote economic growth. I am committed to an agenda of less spending, less taxes and regulation, and more freedom and liberty for our citizens. I hope you will join me.
